Christmas 2010

We all had a wonderful Christmas this year! We got to spend it with Grandma W, Grandpa S, Grandma S and Aunt Linda. I think Haidyn may have gotten too many presents though. She had three left to open, and she didn't want to. She just wanted to play with her toys. Either she's a really sweet girl that was happy with what she received, or she just got way too much. :) Santa was listening and got her the Buzz Lightyear she wanted. Yay! But she is also happy with all her other presents too. She's the only girl I know that can get excited over a pair of underwear. :) Mommy and Daddy got her Woody and Rex action figures and put them in an old pull-ups box. She unwrapped up and exclaims, "Pull-Ups!" hahaha... could saved some money this year, I think. :)

Jingle Bells

Haidyn is quite the singer. She sings everything. She's also a dancer, but we'll get to that in another post. Her favorite Christmas song is Jingle Bells (even though she'll tell you whatever Christmas song is currently playing is her favorite). Here is her rendition.

Pretty Purple Princess

Halloween! Yay! Our favorite holiday. Well, one of them anyways. Haidyn was a butterfly princess. She didn't care so much about being a butterfly, but she did insist on wearing a purple princess dress. All we could find in purple was the butterfly one, so that's what she was. She is certainly a little princess, even when it's not Halloween. She had a great time trick-or-treating with her friends on the Friday before and then again on Sunday (the actual holiday) with mommy and grandma (daddy wasn't feeling well). We have WAY too much candy. But that's the point of Halloween, isn't it? Haidyn also saw her first holiday Charlie Brown special. She loved it! Yay! She IS my child afterall! :)

Girls Weekend

Just the girls went to Michigan last week to visit some friends, Abby (who is 6 weeks older than Haidyn) and Erin, Abby's mom. We had so much fun! Haidyn and Abby were instant BFF's! They got along great and had so much fun. There was a lot of running, singing, dancing, climbing and jumping! If you ask Haidyn what her favorite thing she did was, she'll tell you play on the swingset. Here's a video of Haidyn and Abby dancing:

2 1/2 year check up

As usual, Haidyn did fantastic at her doctors appointment. We were in the waiting room and some other child was back in one of the rooms screaming her head off. Haidyn calmly asks, "She doesn't like the doctors?" LOL.
We saw Meredith, she's one of the Nurse Practioners at the office. It was the first time we met her. We liked her a lot. She was amazed at how well Haidyn spoke and her motor skills too. Haidyn was standing between two chairs and pushed herself off the ground and then started swinging her legs. Apparently thats a little advanced for her age. I guess she's finally caught up now. Gross motor skills weren't her strong point for quite some time. She's 37 3/4" tall and 29 lbs 13 oz. That puts her in the 90th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. She said she's going to be tall and lean.
Meredith told me, "Haidyn is not your typical 2 and a half year old. I want to show you 100 rooms with 2 and a half year olds so you understand." Haidyn is pretty laid back and answered her questions and let her do the exam without any fuss. Meredith said she's used to being kicked, slapped, screamed at ... etc.

Potty training has a new plan now. We're not going to talk about it, ask about it or anything for one month. Then we're going to get a basket of new special toys and stickers that can only be used in the bathroom and we'll start all over again. I think a break will really help Haidyn. Wish us luck in a month!

Catching up....

Ok, Ok, I know I've been slacking with the blog. Now I feel bad because my last post was about her 2 year check up and her 2 1/2 year check up is next week. Ooops!

Let's see... what has happened in the last six months?? Well, Haidyn has turned into a little girl. Not sure when that happened, but I think my baby is gone. She can carry on a full conversation and even correct you when you misspeak. Yes, she is just like her father and won't let a mistake slip by without commenting on it.

She started swim lessons last week and absolutely loves it! Well, it's really water orientation, she's not really learning to swim, but she is getting acclimated to the water. She's been telling everyone that she's putting her face in the water and is very proud of it. She hasn't gone under the water, but she did lay back in it and got her hair wet. Which is huge, she hates getting her hair wet, even in just the bath.

She has her own swing set with a playhouse and a slide in her backyard now. She could swing and slide all day if you let her. She had her first haircut this summer.. really, it was more of a trim, but we'll call it a hair cut. :) She's even due for another one now. Too bad she got her mommy's fine hair though. Oh well, she's still little, there's hope for her yet.

Wednesday the 22nd is her 2.5 year get well check up, I'll post the comments that the doctor makes about how super smart she is. :) Of course, we all know how wicked smart she is... but it's nice to hear from people outside the family. :)

2 Year Check Up

Haidyn did great at her 2 year check. She warmed up to the doctor pretty quickly, so she was being a little jabber jaw. We were in the alphabet room (it's decorated with letters) and Haidyn says, "Mommy, it's a purple S." The doctor asks if she just said it's a purple S. I said yes, there's one on the wall. She just smiles and shakes her head and we go back to talking. Then she stops again and says, "She knows the color AND the letter?" Then Haidyn amazes her some more with the alphabet and counting. She couldn't believe how smart Haidyn is. Yay! Proud mommy moment. Haidyn ended the visit by telling the doctor, "I want a Mickey sticker." Doc counts the words on her fingers and says, "That's 5 words. She's not suppose to be able to do that yet." Then she asked if she could stay there the rest of the day so she can show everyone in the office.

She's measuring at 34.5" (the same as her 18 month, but they measured long last time). I'm guessing she probably grew about an inch and a half. So if the old wives tale is true, she should be 5'9" as an adult. I'm betting she'll reach 5'8." She weighs 27lbs and 7oz. Her growth is right on a good curve. She only had to get her finger pricked for a lead test, but she didn't even whimper. She was a very good girl.

Singing!

Haidyn likes to sing "Annie's Love Song."
You are my friend. I love you.

Haidyn also likes to sing her own version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
Twinkle Twinkle Star. How are you.

fire hose rescue dance 1/8/10

Haidyn was so cute copying June of the Little Einstein's doing the "Fire Hose Rescue Dance," that I just had to get it on video. Of course, she got a little shy doing it the second time in front of the camera and apparently it was quite dark in the room. Oh well, she's still cute.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The day after Christmas, we got hit with a ton of snow. Our little helper gladly went right to work.
Haidyn is doing well, she amazes us every day. She's so smart. Soon, we won't be able to keep up with her. She can count to 15 easily by herself. She can get to twenty with a little help. Jen (daycare) is always commenting at how proud she is when they go to Gabbi's preschool (her 4 year old daughter) and the other moms are amazed at how well Haidyn can count and say her alphabet. Smarty pants apparently likes to show off in front of an audience. :) Haidyn's latest "funny" is the other day I told her I loved her and she appreciatively replies, "Thanks." Little stinker. :)
