A month?

It's been a month since my last post? Where has the time gone?!

Haidyn is getting ready for her Christmas program for school. The preschoolers through 2nd grade have their own service that they are performing at December 11th. She's been practicing singing "Away on a Manger." I can't wait, they're going to be so cute!

Eli is 2 months old now. He was 12lbs 4oz and 24" at his 2 month appointment. He smiles all the time! I'm not going to mention how he's sleeping, as soon as I think we're getting close to sleeping through the night, it goes haywire! So I'm just going to let it be what it is. He's such a good boy, does love to have attention though. :)

First Day of School

Haidyn had her first day of preschool today. I can't believe she's old enough to even go off to school. I know it's only preschool, but still. She did great! She was very excited. And surprisingly, no tears from either of us at drop off. I didn't expect her to cry, but I thought I would. I guess 3 years of taking her to Jen's has broken me in. Plus it was only for 2 1/2 hours. That makes it a little easier. She's such a big girl now! She's looking forward to going back on Thursday.

Yes, yes, I know... I've been slacking quite a bit with this blog. Haidyn is doing fantastic. She seems very excited about being a big sister. She's even ok with having a brother now. Although I did just find out that she's telling Jen that she's going to have a sister after her brother comes. Hmmmm.

She'll start preschool in the fall at St. Johns. We're all excited about that. I think it will be good for her to be around other kids and be exposed to some different things. And Haidyn loves her teacher and the fact they have a play kitchen in the room. :)

She still amazes us every day. She's so smart. There's no pulling a fast one on her, she figures it out. She's far smarter than me and her father. Which is scary, but I love the way she thinks. She's very logical and comes up with answers and/or questions that a three year old shouldn't.

We're taking a break from classes for the month. Gymnastics is on hold for awhile, not sure when we'll go back to that. Her next swim class starts July 19th. I think we'll put her in dance in the fall. She just loves to dance! We've asked her several times if she wants to take gymnastics again or a dance class and she always answers dance. I think we'll try it while I'm on maternity leave. Maybe we can squeeze a class in during the day so we're not jam packed with night classes. There's a dance academy in downtown Elgin that looks promising. They have a "creative movement's" class for her age group. It sounds perfect!

Our Haidybel is still very strong willed, but I think both Mike and I have done pretty good at adjusting to it. We've figured out that there are a lot of things we just have to drop and let go, but some things are important and we have to stand our ground. No matter how ugly it gets. I think Haidyn has realized that too. She still has her meltdowns occasionaly, but she's realized we're not going to give in. I thought girls weren't suppose to be difficult until they were teenagers?? I think God just needed to teach me patience. Thank you. I've learned my lesson. Now can it be easy??

I guess it's time to get a new picture on here seeing as how it's summer time now. :) Here's our little girl roller skating for the first time. She did really well! No falls or anything!

Blizzard!

Haidyn got to experience her first blizzard. It was a little spooking riding home from Jen's on Tuesday, February 1st. I left work early knowing that the storm was on it's way and I wanted to get Haidyn and be home before it yet. I apparently timed it wrong. The wind was blowing like crazy, making visibility very poor. Haidyn kept telling me, "I can't see out the window Mom." I assured her we didn't have far to go and that we would be fine. We were very close to home when we had to drive past a field. The wind picked up and blew the snow making it a complete whiteout. Haidyn yelled, "I can't see ANYTHING Mom!" I white knuckled the steering wheel, said a little prayer that we stayed on the road and as soon as the wind died a bit allowing me to see where the road was, I gunned it. Once we made it past the field it was ok. It continued to snow for quite a long time after that. The next day we ended up with 20" of snow. But the snow drifts were the worst. The driveway was over 5'. We did get outside for a little bit to go sledding and check out the tunnel that Daddy made for her.

Pretty Purple Princess

Halloween! Yay! Our favorite holiday. Well, one of them anyways. Haidyn was a butterfly princess. She didn't care so much about being a butterfly, but she did insist on wearing a purple princess dress. All we could find in purple was the butterfly one, so that's what she was. She is certainly a little princess, even when it's not Halloween. She had a great time trick-or-treating with her friends on the Friday before and then again on Sunday (the actual holiday) with mommy and grandma (daddy wasn't feeling well). We have WAY too much candy. But that's the point of Halloween, isn't it? Haidyn also saw her first holiday Charlie Brown special. She loved it! Yay! She IS my child afterall! :)

2 Year Check Up

Haidyn did great at her 2 year check. She warmed up to the doctor pretty quickly, so she was being a little jabber jaw. We were in the alphabet room (it's decorated with letters) and Haidyn says, "Mommy, it's a purple S." The doctor asks if she just said it's a purple S. I said yes, there's one on the wall. She just smiles and shakes her head and we go back to talking. Then she stops again and says, "She knows the color AND the letter?" Then Haidyn amazes her some more with the alphabet and counting. She couldn't believe how smart Haidyn is. Yay! Proud mommy moment. Haidyn ended the visit by telling the doctor, "I want a Mickey sticker." Doc counts the words on her fingers and says, "That's 5 words. She's not suppose to be able to do that yet." Then she asked if she could stay there the rest of the day so she can show everyone in the office.

She's measuring at 34.5" (the same as her 18 month, but they measured long last time). I'm guessing she probably grew about an inch and a half. So if the old wives tale is true, she should be 5'9" as an adult. I'm betting she'll reach 5'8." She weighs 27lbs and 7oz. Her growth is right on a good curve. She only had to get her finger pricked for a lead test, but she didn't even whimper. She was a very good girl.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The day after Christmas, we got hit with a ton of snow. Our little helper gladly went right to work.
Haidyn is doing well, she amazes us every day. She's so smart. Soon, we won't be able to keep up with her. She can count to 15 easily by herself. She can get to twenty with a little help. Jen (daycare) is always commenting at how proud she is when they go to Gabbi's preschool (her 4 year old daughter) and the other moms are amazed at how well Haidyn can count and say her alphabet. Smarty pants apparently likes to show off in front of an audience. :) Haidyn's latest "funny" is the other day I told her I loved her and she appreciatively replies, "Thanks." Little stinker. :)

Santa

Haidyn went to see Santa for the first time yesterday (11/20/09). She wasn't too thrilled about sitting on his lap. The tears came pretty quickly. She did like the candy cane she got afterwards though. Hopefully next year will go a little better.

We're all excited about Christmas this year. Haidyn loves the Christmas tree and especially Mike's rocking horse ornament. She points it out several times a day. Shopping has been nice, I can buy presents right in front of her. I don't think I'll get away with that next year.

Halloween 2009

Haidyn was a Hunny Pot this year. She had a blast going door to door and getting candy. Too bad her Mom and Dad didn't let her eat everything she got. :) She even got to go trick or treating at daycare too, she had lots of fun going out with her friends.

I got a slide!

Thank you Grandpa W! Haidyn loves her new slide. Not only is it a slide, but a place to sit and watch Little Einstein. She also found out that there's a hiding spot underneath the slide. She's going to get a lot of use out of her toy!
